Specifications

A delegator is someone who assigns their stake to a validator and receives rewards as a result. By assigning their stake, delegators can engage in the network and earn rewards without needing the specialized knowledge or hardware necessary to operate a validator node on their own - you can do it straight from your smartphone or computer.

Delegator Specifications

A delegator is someone who assigns their stake to a validator and receives rewards as a result.
By delegating their stake, users can participate in the network and earn rewards without needing specialized knowledge or hardware to operate a validator node. Delegation can be done directly from a smartphone or computer.

Minimum Stake Amount

  • 1 TQF

Quick Actions

  • Stake TQF
  • Unstake TQF
  • Withdraw TQF Rewards

Delegation Rules

  • Delegators may stake and unstake at any time, subject to protocol limits.
  • There is no minimum delegation requirement beyond the 1 TQF minimum stake.
  • Delegators may partially unstake their delegated amount.
  • No advance notice is required for unstaking.
  • No penalty applies for standard delegator unstaking.
  • Delegators can unstake a maximum of 10% of their delegated amount per request.
  • After submitting an unstake request, delegators must wait 10 days before submitting another unstake request.

Unbonding Period

  • A 14-day unbonding period applies when unstaking.
  • This period begins when the unstake transaction is submitted.
  • Once the 14 days have elapsed, delegators can withdraw their unstaked TQF from the staking dashboard.

Important Notes

  • The unbonding period only applies to unstaking.
  • It does not apply to claiming or withdrawing rewards.
  • Delegators may withdraw earned rewards at any time, including rewards accumulated across all past epochs.

Delegation Fee

Delegation allows participation in network staking without the 500,000 TQF, hardware, or operational requirements needed to run a validator node.

  • A fixed 12% fee is applied to all staking rewards earned by delegators.
  • This fee is paid directly to validators as compensation for operating validator nodes.

Example

  • You stake 1,000 TQF at a 10% APR
  • Expected total after one year: 1,100 TQF
  • Actual rewards distribution:
    • Delegator receives: 1,088 TQF
    • Validator receives: 12 TQF (12% delegation fee)

Slashing

  • If a validator is slashed due to malicious or harmful behavior, all delegators who have staked with that validator lose their delegated TQF.
  • This mechanism ensures shared responsibility and strengthens the security of the Torus network.

You can read more about slashing in the official documentation.
